子曰, 學而時習之, 不亦說乎?

子曰, 學而時習之, 不亦說乎? is the opening line of Confucius’ Analects, and means “Confucius said: ‘Is it not enjoyable to learn and practice what you learn?’” Which I think is a pretty good motto

That Confucius saying is actually my favorite motto!!
When I came across that saying, it helped me to be determined to go learn more…

It is funny how languages translate with different subtlety because words carry
different tones and feelings in different cultures. I studied Confucius in English, Korean
and Chinese and it made me realize that no translations are ever satisfying enough
to carry all the feelings/tones/true meanings/styles to have deeper understanding.
It made me a little sad to realize that but without a doubt, it is a very very good motto.

    I also agree with Haj.
That is a good motto which makes my mind calm and my face smiling.

    공자왈(子曰).
배우고 때로 익히면 또한 기쁘지 아니한가?
    (學而時習之면 不亦說乎아)

친한 벗이 먼 곳에서 찾아오면 또한 즐겁지 아니한가?
    (有朋이 自遠方來면 不亦樂乎아)

남이 알아주지 않아도 성내지 않으면 또한 군자가 아니겠는가?
    (人不知而不이면 不亦君子乎아)
